Current promotion CD rates include a 12 month certificate of deposit that has a current rate of 1.19 percent and an annual percentage yield ( APY) of 1.20 percent. The individual retirement account (IRA) 12 month CD rate is even higher, the current rate is 1.83 percent with an APY of 1.85 percent. The minimum certificate of deposit opening deposit is $5,000 for a regular CD and $2,000 or an IRA CD. Bank of America is also offering their 9 month ”Risk Free” certificate of deposit for both regular CDs and IRA CDs. The current rate on the regular 9 month risk free CD is .65 percent with an APY of .65 percent. The 9 month risk free IRA CD currently has a rate and APY of .75 percent. The bank is also offering an 18 month “Opt-Up” certificate of deposit that currently has a CD rate of 1.49 percent and a CD yield of 1.50 percent.
